What is Hypnotherapy?

Have you ever found yourself lost in a good book or movie? Have you ever driven somewhere and not remembered the actual journey? What about that deep sense of relaxation you feel just before you go to sleep? How about daydreaming? They are all states of hypnosis that people experience every day!
Hypnotherapy is a complementary treatment that uses hypnosis to create a state of focussed attention and increased suggestibility. It bypasses the conscious critical mind and works with the subconscious part of the mind that stores memories, thoughts, patterns and behaviours. When negative connections have been made in this part of the mind, hypnotherapy can help to reframe these connections to empower you to make lasting positive change.
Hypnotherapy is a highly successful therapy especially when combined with the use of NLP techniques, life coaching strategies and EFT. It can help with a wide variety of emotional and physical conditions.

What Happens in a Hypnotherapy Session?
You will be asked to attend an initial taster session first.
This will include a consultation and helps you to understand the process of the therapy techniques, ask any questions and to discuss your needs in a little more detail. If appropriate, you may be led into a deeply relaxed state of hypnosis so that you can experience how it feels to go in and out of trance. It's important to remember that you will always be in control at all stages of the therapy, using agreed methods to work towards your goals. You can stop the session at any time. The aim of hypnotherapy is to empower you to regain responsibility for your own level of healing.

Is Hypnotherapy Suitable for Me?
There are certain physical and psychological conditions that are not appropriate for hypnotherapy such as epilepsy, psychosis, personality disorders and clinical depression. Other conditions may need a GP referral letter before proceeding with treatment. This can be discussed during your initial contact. Hypnotherapy is not a magic wand and requires honesty and commitment from both the client and practitioner. Ultimately, the aim is for you to feel empowered so that you can take responsibility to make lasting positive change to your life.
